O’Connor off to fast start

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Harvard sophomore wrestler, J.P. O'Connor (Oxford Academy, 2006), picked up the lone individual title for the Crimson winning the 149-pound division at the ESU Open last weekend.
O’Connor, who is ranked third in the nation in his weight class, dominated the competition winning all six matches in the opening weekend tournament. O’Connor defeated Daryl Cocozzo of Edinboro in the final, 2-0. He made it into the semifinals with a win by fall over Army’s Casey Thome in 5:59.
O’Connor was co-Ivy League Rookie of the Year and EIWA rookie of the year as a freshman. He set a Harvard freshman record with 37 wins last season and finished fifth in the division one nationals at 149 pounds.
