S-E ties for second at Ilion tourney

ILION – Sherburne-Earlville finished in a tie for second place at the Ilion Valley Duals Saturday winning three of five matches including a 37-30 win over Class A Whitesboro.
Wheeler Brunschmid was named the Marauders’ most outstanding wrestler of the tourney winning all five matches at 171 pounds. “Our lower weights will be our strong suit,” said S-E assistant coach Brian Hicks. “We have some inexperienced guys in the middle and upper weights, and that was our strength last year.”
The Marauders are slated to visit Holland Patent Wednesday.

Otselic Valley splits
MADISON – Otselic Valley beat Stockbridge Valley 30-23 in its opening round game of the Central Counties League Tournament, and dropped the tourney final to Madison Saturday, 42-28.
Amber Wood had the Vikings’ first nine points against SV scoring 12 to lead the way. Heather Eaton added 10 points.
Wood again topped the OV scoring list finishing with 15 points in the loss to Madison.
