Voices of Tabernacle hold holiday concert tomorrow

SHERBURNE – Nothing brings out the holiday spirit like music, and this weekend, the Voices of Tabernacle will provide all kinds of holiday spirit when they perform their holiday concert.
At 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, the Voices of Tabernacle will perform an eclectic array of holiday favorites from around the world at the Episcopal Church of Epiphany in Sherburne.
“The music is rich and colorful and will help put everybody in the spirit of the holidays,” concert director Anita Humer said.
According to Humer, the program will contain a variety of selections from England, Germany, Israel and France, including traditional carols and some that may be new to the audience.
Vocal soloists include Shannon Staley and Linda Anderson Staley, who will perform “Pié Jesu,” and long time choir member Pauline Nower, who will sing “The Christmas Song.” In addition to some vocal selections, the concert will also feature some of Humer’s piano students, including Susannah and Gwyneth Davies of Hamilton, Courtney Cooper, Hayley Chwazik-Gee and Ellie Sacks of Norwich and Adrian Enscoe of Sherburne and Laura Goodchild of Plymouth, playing traditional carols.
The student portion of the concert will close with a rousing four-hand piano number. Sacks and Enscoe will perform Franz Schubert’s “Marche Militaire.”
Cellist Stephen Sabin will perform “Avé Maria” accompanied by Humer on piano.
“The carols are traditional, but they have beautiful arrangements,” Humer said.
Accompanying the choir on some of the selections will be the talented mallet percussionists Ray Thielke and Cathy Bishop-Thielke. Rosemary Jaytanie will also accompany the choir on piano during two of the selections.
“It’s a prolific concert of beautifully arranged, traditional carols and classical selections,” Humer said.
Tickets will be available at the door at a cost of $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and children 10 and under will be admitted free of charge. “Join us for a festive afternoon of beautiful music,” Humer said.
