SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville won for the second time in four games this season Thursday night, and both have come by the identical score.

Caleb Brown capped a season-best contest hitting the final basket of the game with 3:04 to play to unlock a tie game. Brown had 12 points and aided the effort of leading scorer Garrett Porack’s game-high 22 points.

S-E coach Kevin Vibbard singled out Brown for his offense and defense. “It wasn’t just his points, he had a great game on defense defending their best player (Viktor Selyuzhisky),” the S-E mentor said. “You can see his game maturing on the varsity level.”

Waterville jumped out a 11-2 lead in the opening four minutes of the game. The rest of the way, the Marauders’ defense became much stingier. “We challenged the kids to pick it up on the defensive end, and they responded,” Vibbard said.
