Two-car accident in the city causes car to end up on homeowner’s lawn
Freda H. McCoy, 81, Bartlett Road, Norwich, was traveling south on Birdsall Street in the City of Norwich around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in her 1997 Mercury when she approached an intersection at Front Street but failed to stop at the stop light. Kelly A. Crandall, 31, Anchor Lane, South Plymouth, was traveling west in his 2000 Chevy along Clinton Street. At the Front Street intersection, Crandall struck McCoy’s car. McCoy’s car spun out of control and went up an embankment, across a sidewalk and into the front lawn of 43 Birdsall St.
Crandall was not injured in the accident, but McCoy was taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
The Norwich Fire and Police Department responded to the scene. No tickets had been issued.
