OXFORD – Greene picked up where Oxford left off last the previous weekend at the Norwich Pennysaver Tournament.
The Trojans, who gave up a 10-point second-half lead a week ago to a furiously rallying Blackhawks club, started hot in the first quarter and never gave up its big lead to avenge that loss Saturday. “We had a great first quarter,” said Greene coach Bill Case. “We had them up-tempoed and were able to get up and down the court. They have such a good defensive club, but we were much more aggressive.”
The Trojans also dominated the glass outrebounding Oxford 43-13. Lizzy Buhl and Megan McDermott grabbed 10 rebounds apiece, while Barb Borst scored 11 points to pace a balanced offense. “I thought we did a fairly good job in our halfcourt defense, but we never really got into a flow on offense,” said Oxford coach Brad aldrich. “We thought they might come out with a lot of adrenaline in the first quarter after last weekend, and that’s what they did. If you don’t come to play with your ‘A game,’ almost anybody can beat anybody else in our league.”
Liz Wentlent scored six points in the first quarter as Greene led 17-4 after the first turn. Wentlent and McDermott split 18 points evenly to aid the Greene cause.

GREENE – Greene extended its Midstate Athletic Conference winning streak to 32 meets, and won its 11th straight dual meet against an improving S-E squad Saturday morning.
Chris Osterwald and Patrick Kelsey each had a pair of individual wins, while also teaming for wins on two winning relays to pace the Trojans. “S-E is much improved over last year, and head coach Corey DuBois is doing a terrific job with their program,” said Greene coach Mike Platta. “Depth has been our strength for years, and today we were able to plug different swimmers into their off events, and they came through.”
The Trojans host Norwich Tuesday.
