BAINBRIDGE – The idle time suited B-G well Friday night.
The Bobcats, who were playing just their third game this month, ended the Storm’s three-game winning streak with their best effort to date. “We haven’t played what I would call good basketball until tonight,” said B-G coach Bob Conway. “We were more in the flow offensively and got better shot opportunities.”
Dani Conway scored 20 points in the first half and finished with a season-high 28 points to go with 12 rebounds and four steals. Mariah Schaeffer added 10 in the first half and had 16 points and eight assists.
Conway and Schaeffer had all but four of their team’s first-half points to give B-G a 12-point halftime lead.
Hannah Johnson and Katelyn Ross scored 10 points apiece for UV (3-4).

NORWICH – After a strong start, Norwich went cold on the offensive end and CV found its rhythm in Friday night’s matchup.
Brooke Abbott and Michelle Testani hit three balls during a 10-0 Norwich run that put the host club in front by 10 points.
Abbey Harrington scored on a layup and Liz Heller hit a three near the end of the first quarter to spur the Warriors’ comeback.
Norwich went scoreless over a 7:47 stretch into the latter portion of the second quarter, and during that time CV rattled off 13 points in a row to take the lead for good.
“I think we started to relax a little on defense and they caught up,” said Norwich coach Krista Porter. “Once they took the lead, I think we lost our poise and we weren’t executing our offense.”
Stephanie Hoffman scored nine points in the last quarter and was 9-for-9 from the foul line to finish the game with 17 points to lead Chenango Valley.
Testani had 11 points for Norwich and Boyan Cox added 10.

SOUTH OTSELIC – New York Mills, among the top Class D schools in Section III, pulled away in the third quarter from the Vikings outscoring them 23-5 on Friday.
Samantha Szkotak had 19 of her 23 points over the first and third quarters to lead Mills. “When (Szkotak) got the ball, she knows where to go and what to do with it,” said OV coach Kevin Springer.
Amber Wood had 14 points for OV, who had two players foul out and only four on the floor to finish the game.

MADISON – Sherburne-Earlville was just a little better than a Madison club that plays with a similar intensity to the Marauders in a non-league matchup Friday.
“They’re a scrappy team, but (Madison) found out we’re scrappier,” said S-E coach Jeff Barry. “We played some tremendous lock-down defense. We were so good in playing the passing lanes and our anticipation was terrific.”
The win was the fifth in six games for S-E, who led by 20 points at halftime and extended the lead to 25 after three quarters. Courtney Kurtz led the Marauders with 12 points and Megan Record added 10.

FRANKLIN – A pair of buzzer beaters, one for G-MU and one for Franklin, extended the contest into a second overtime where the Raiders prevailed Friday night on the road.
Ashlea Osborne hit a pair of free throws in the final seconds to seal the win in the second overtime. “It was one of those games where somebody has to win and you almost wish nobody had to,” said G-MU coach Jim Johnson. “It was an exciting game and we had a blast.”
Cass Calamia stole stole an inbounds pass from under the Franklin basket and scored with one-tenth of a second left in regulation to knot the contest.
Franklin’s Lindsay Worden matched those heroics canning a three ball at the end of the first overtime.
Osborne and Sierra French led the Raiders (4-6) with 10 points apiece, Calamia had nine, and Kayla Armstrong finishing with eight points and eight rebounds.
