Police remove nearly 40 neglected dogs from a barn and arrest their owner

GERMAN – Authorities seized nearly 40 caged dogs from a Town of German property because the animals were allegedly not receiving adequate care.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the SPCA Sunday and the agencies rescued 37 ill-kept, short haired terriers found in several steel cages inside a barn. The barn is located on the property of Barbara Brentana, 51, of Burkholder Road, McDonough.

Brentana allegedly violated New York State’s Agriculture and Markets Law and was charged with 37 counts of failing to provide for an impounded animal.
