6 On The Square presents Panhandle
OXFORD – Oxford native, Nate Gross, returns with his band, Panhandle, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday a night of high energy music at 6 On The Square. Panhandle’s hard to classify style, melding together rock, folk, and roots, is getting known as “Alt-Country.” Local fans will remember Panhandle’s performance at the 2007 Fetish Fest.
Panhandle is: Nate Gross, lead vocals/guitar; Ben, Nate’s brother, bass; and Jeff Landry on drums. Nate, an Oxford alumni, left his hometown to seek the cultural music scene on both coasts from New York to San Francisco. When hearing how so much music was getting a commercial “pop” feel, the Alt-Country sound breathed new life into the young music writer. The music was inspirational and the business experience was broadening. Nate said, “I saw how large cities can build a great music scene in a grassroots way and that's what I'm trying to do here.”
Nate and Panhandle have brought the new musical trend back home and the response has been very positive. A strong following at local appearances, great feedback on their MySpace web page, and excitement over their first album about to be released proves that. Their unique Alt-Country style, with truly original numbers creates a harmony that’s played with a passion that will be catching! If you’re looking for something new, raw and real, you’ll find it with Panhandle!
Purchase tickets on-line at the discounted price of $8, until the day of the show; $10 on the day of the show. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
