NORWICH – Norwich was unable to overcome Windsor’s fast start in which it built a 15-point lead in Saturday’s matchup.
It was the second straight contest the Tornado fell behind by double digits. The Black Knights led 23-8 at the first turn that included a 12-0 start to the contest.
Anne Buchert and Rachael Lamantia had eight points apiece in the first quarter to pace the Black Knights.
The Tornado were as close as 26-18 before Windsor scored the final six points of the half. Krissie Collier had nine points for the Tornado. “They usually don’t make too many threes, but they made four in this game,” said Norwich coach Krista Porter. “We were consistent with our scoring throughout the game, but just couldn’t make a run.”
Norwich plays at Whitney Point Tuesday.

Sierra French made 3-for-4 from the foul line in the fourth quarter to pad the advantage. “This was a win we hoped to get, but after the first half we were a little concerned,” said G-MU coach Jim Johnson. “In the second half, we came out and shot it well, passed it well, and didn’t turn it over.”

Law, with three total points in the three previous games, had a career-high 16 points including three three-pointers in the fourth quarter. Law’s last trifecta with 1:27 remaining moved Oxford in front for good at 54-53. Felicia Tynan and Hollyann Branham added a pair of free throws in the final 23 seconds to seal the victory.
Harpursville made up an 11-point halftime deficit holding Oxford to just four points in the third quarter. Alycia Kimmel hit 15 of her 21 points in the second half including a perfect 8-for-8 from the line. Marisa Wickham’s offensive rebound putback with 1:54 remaining gave Harpursville its only lead of the game at 53-51.

Liz Wentlent scored 16 of her 18 points after halftime, and Erin Smith hit a three ball early in the fourth quarter to put Unatego’s hopes of a comeback to rest. “We’ve beaten two quality teams in a row, and it all plays off our defense,” said Greene coach Bill Case.
In the opening quarter, Barb Borst hit a pair of three balls sparking her club to an 11-point lead. Borst and Megan McDermott had a pair of baskets in the second stanza. “Different people were carrying the scoring at different times of the game,” Case said. “We were very solid on offense in the fourth quarter.
