Husband and wife duo chosen to run Greene Chamber
GREENE – The Greater Greene Chamber of Commerce selected not one but two new executive directors earlier this month.
The chamber’s Board of Directors chose Debra and Joseph Eggleston as co-executives.
The appointment followed the resignation of Karen Raymond, who stepped down after serving as the chamber’s executive for the last seven years.
“My husband and I are hoping to follow Karen’s lead by continuing many of her successful practices. I think we can bring a lot to this position because between the two of us, we are deeply involved in the community,” said Debra.
She explained that between the two of them, she andher husband are part of several local organizations, such as the Fire Department, Lions Club and Rotary Club.
Joseph worked for the Greene School District for 35 years as a middle school science teacher. Debra has been an active member of the chamber for the last two years and runs a small business, The Sewing Room, in Greene.
“We compliment each other very well and we can hopefully get twice as much done,” said Debra.
The position will be split between the couple equally. The salary of the position remains the same. “It all goes to the same place anyway,” said Debra.
“We’re looking forward to carrying out an already successful program and only hope we can expand that success in the community,” said Debra.
