Pole announces retirement from DCMO BOCES
NORWICH – The most senior District Superintendent of the 37 BOCES in New York State announced his retirement at the DCMO BOCES Board of Education meeting held last week.
Alan Pole has served as District Superintendent for the Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES since July 1, 1990. Prior to that, he served as the Deputy Superintendent at the Onondaga-Cortland-Madison BOCES in Syracuse where he worked for sixteen years.
District Superintendent Pole shared the news of his retirement with staff and colleagues in area schools and across the state. “It has been my privilege to serve as the District Superintendent for the DCMO BOCES for the past 18 years. At this time, however, I am looking forward to retirement to be able to spend more time with my family.”
A graduate of Niagara University and Syracuse University, Mr. Pole currently resides in Norwich where he is active in several community organizations. Mr. Pole has served as statewide Chair of the District Superintendents in New York State. He has served as Interim District Superintendent for five different BOCES in Central New York and the Southern Tier. His plans are to relocate to the Syracuse area with his wife, Maryalice. His effective date of retirement is August 31.
