Minor flooding forecast for Sherburne, Bainbridge

CHENANGO COUNTY – Warm temperatures and rain that began on Tuesday and continued overnight are causing problems in some areas of Chenango County, and minor flooding could occur.

Water in many streams throughout the county have reached bank full, but do not appear to be in danger of flooding over; however the Chenango River at Sherburne and the Susquehanna River at Bainbridge are forecast to reach flood stage before the waters crest.

A flood watch is in effect for all of Chenango County until this evening. A flood watch means there is the potential for flooding based on the current conditions. In Sherburne and Bainbridge, a flood warning has been issued, which means flooding is expected to occur.
