Oxford 8, Unadilla Valley 6
OXFORD – Oxford jumped out to an early lead, and survived a shaky sixth frame to avenge last week’s loss to the Storm.
Nate Sortino pitched five innings and allowed just one run for the win. P.J. Hubman came on in relief in the sixth after UV scored a five-spot, and earned the save. “Nate pitched a great five innings and really was in control,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer. “Other than the sixth, we played a really good game.”
Sortino aided his own effort finishing 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs and two RBI. Robert Amor matched Sortino’s day exactly, and Jared Hueth went 2-for-4.
Jake Curtis led UV with two RBI, while Tyler Peet and Justin Peek collected two hits apiece. “It was good to come back and get a win against UV, and it puts us on track for the division games,” Palmer said.

Windsor 15, Greene 2
WINDSOR – Dylan Kay put Windsor on the board with a three-run homer in the first, and the Black Knights’ nine-run opening frame highlighted a non-league win over the Trojans Thursday.
“We had a couple errors and hit a couple of batters (in the first inning),” said Greene coach Dave Gorton. “They scored nine runs on just four hits. I thought we played much better after the first inning, and I was pleased with our infield. The infield made a lot of good plays.”
Kyle Crouse and Dan Buchert led Windsor with three-hit performances.
Scott Gorton, Justin VanWert, and Nick Puglisi all had two hits for Greene, who host Whitney Point at 1 p.m. today.

Sherburne-Earlville 9, Clinton 6
CLINTON – Sherburne-Earlville put Clinton away in Wednesday’s non-league win thanks to Chris Harvey’s big blast.
Harvey came off the bench to smack a two-run, pinch-hit homer in the seventh padding the Marauders’ lead for winning pitcher Caleb Brown. “It was an absolute bomb,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks of Harvey’s homer. “He hit it down the left field line, and it didn’t move.”
In addition to Harvey’s homer, Mike McCredy broke a 2-2 tie roping a two-run double in the third inning. Brown, meanwhile, overcame uncharacteristic wildness (8 walks), to pitch a spotless seventh.
S-E hosts Herkimer at 11 a.m. today, and hosts Sidney for a Saturday morning doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m.
