Voices of Tabernacle present “Choral Jazz”

SHERBURNE – The Voices of Tabernacle will present “Choral Jazz” at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 4.

Directed by Anita Humer, the chorus, made up of members from Smyrna, Earlville, Hamilton, Sherburne, Madison, Norwich and Waterville, will sing well-know jazz tunes, such as: “Moonglow,” “Dream,” “Take Five,” “Take the A Train” and many more. Vocal soloists will be Shannon Staley singing, “I’ll Be Seeing You” and Darlene Miller singing, “Both Sides Now.”

“This program of choral jazz introduces songs back to 1927,” Humer explained. “Including Stardust, one of the most recorded songs of the twentieth century, with over 1,800 different recordings.” Humer continued, explaining that the songs range from the 1927 “Stardust” to Barbara Streisand’s 1970’s hit “On a Clear Day.” “There is a lot of variety in this show,” Humer said.
