SOUTH OTSELIC – Otselic Valley senior Chris Olin pitched 6 1-3 innings of no-hit ball finishing with a one-hit shutout in the Vikings’ win over Brookfield Friday.
Brad Wentworth had two doubles finishing 3-for-4 with two RBI, and Adam Duell had two hits and two ribbies. Adding two hits were Chase Marsten and David Cerasani.
“We played a lot better today,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “We were solid in the field and put the ball in play.”
The Vikings are at Madison today.

COPES CORNERS – G-MU avenged a sectional playoff loss to CV-Springfield from last season knocking off the state-ranked Patriots Friday.
Corin Todd’s attempted sacrifice bunt with two runners on in the fourth squirted by for an infield single to score Tim Sloan with the tying run. Andrew Delmar drove in the go-ahead run with the first of his two RBI, and Alex Schmidt added a two-run single.
“It was a nice win for us and I know our team was pretty excited,” said G-MU coach Jim Johnson.
Delmar finished with two hits and Alex Schmidt finished with two RBI.
David Adams went 3-for-4 for the Patriots.
G-MU (4-1, 7-1) plays at Milford today.

Chenango Valley 13, Norwich 0
NORWICH – Chenango Valley extended its unbeaten record to 13-0 Friday, and most definitely met the quality of play expected of a number one ranked team in the state.
“They hit the ball well and their pitching staff does and tremendous job keeping you off balance,” said Norwich coach John Martinson. “There are no weaknesses that we can see; they’re a quality program and well coached.”
Eight of the Warriors’ 13 hits were of the extra-base variety. Eric Bidwell went 4-for-5 with a double and a triple, while Dan Pendleton and Jordan Oakley led with two RBI apiece.
CV’s combined pitching staff had 10 strikeouts, and the defense did not commit an error.
Norwich plays the first of three road games this week today at Susquehanna Valley.

COOPERSTOWN – A bases-loaded infield throwing error allowed two Cooperstown runs to score in the fifth inning to propel the Redskins past S-E in a battle of Center State Conference division leaders.
The Marauders also gave up a run in the first when an errant pickoff attempt at third base scored the game’s first run. “It was an unbelievable game, we just gave up a couple of runs we shouldn’t have,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks.
Caleb Brown struck out 12 and walked two for S-E (8-5) in six innings of work.

Sidney 11, Greene 5
SIDNEY – Errors hounded the Trojans, and Sidney put the ball in play enough to make Greene pay in a win for the Warriors Friday.
Andy Kozak went 3-for-4 with two RBI on the Sidney side, and Andy Wood had two hits and two ribbies. Sidney stretched its lead to 10-3 in the fifth scoring three runs with the aid of four Greene errors. The Trojans’ book tallied eight miscues for the game. “We gave up runs early that we shouldn’t have, and that hurt us more than anything,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton.
Dave Fors picked up two hits and two RBI for Greene, who host Unadilla Valley today.

COOPERSTOWN – Coming off its first league loss earlier in the week, Sherburne-Earlville won decisively Friday at Cooperstown.
Samantha Crandall homered twice, a solo shot in the second and a two-run jack in the fifth to finish with three RBI. Kate Fitzpatrick had two doubles and drove in two runs, while Megan Record stroked two hits and drove in a run.
“We put the ball in play really well today and made a lot of good things happen,” said S-E coach Scott Fitzpatrick. “Usually Cooperstown makes mistakes and we capitalize. They have improved, we just hit the ball hard and earned everything.”
Lindsay Hodges struck out seven and allowed three hits for the win.
Hodges followed up Friday’s win with a career-high 19 strikeouts in a two-hit shutout win over Clinton Saturday.
Record was a perfect 3-for-3 and Fitzpatrick had two hits and three RBI. Crandall, Karli Harris, Bree Neisinger, and Brenda Hoefler all added two RBI for the Marauders (8-2).

Oxford third at own tournament
OXFORD – Oxford received a three-run homer from Alyshia Crawford in the second inning and a two-run double to finish 3-for-4 in the Blackhawks’ 16-9 win over G-MU in the consolation game of the Blackhawks’ tournament Saturday.
The win was the fifth this season for Oxford, who also saw a three-hit day from Allie Nelson and a two-hit outing from Jenna Farwell. Marissa Finch was 3-for-4 to lead G-MU.
Tournament champion DeRuyter forged ahead of the Blackhawks with a six-run fourth to prevail 11-9. Crawford had two RBI for the Blackhawks and Farwell two hits.
DeRuyter’s Kaitlin Pforter went 2-for-3.
DeRuyter beat Delhi 18-3 in the title game.
Earlier in the week, Oxford rebounded from a 10-0 deficit scoring nine runs in the fifth to take the lead and defeat B-G, 13-10.
