WEST WINFIELD – Coming off a career-best 19-strikeout game, S-E junior Lindsay Hodges upstaged herself coming two outs from pitching a no-hitter in Monday’s win over Mount Markham.
Hodges gave up a single with one out in the seventh and finished with 14 strikeouts and just one base on balls. “I don’t know about this year, but I think she’ll definitely get it (a no-hitter),” said S-E coach Scott Fitzpatrick. “She’s coming on strong at the end of the year when we need it.”
Hodges also had her best batting game of the season finishing 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, and three RBI. Morgan Reid added a 2-for-4 day for S-E (9-2), who play at Sauquoit Valley Wednesday.

Deposit 9, Oxford 7
OXFORD – Oxford’s late-inning offensive surge was not enough to overcome Deposit’s early advantage Monday.
Emily Cecere went 3-for-5 with three RBI for Deposit, who scored four runs in the fourth to lead 6-0. In that inning, Deposit had five hits and benefited from an Oxford outfield error, the Blackhawks’ lone miscue of the game. “We had people on base every inning, we just couldn’t get them in until the end,” said Oxford coach Margo Barrows. “We made some good plays in the infield and had some timely strikeouts to get out of jams.”
