Norwich 4, Whitney Point 1
WHITNEY POINT – Norwich scored three runs in the top of the seventh to win its third straight road game in as many days Wednesday.
Tyler Saroka, who had an RBI single in the fifth to put Norwich on the board, led off the seventh with a double. Mackay Hotaling singled and Tim Clark drove in Saroka with the go-ahead run. Hotaling and Clark later scored on Richie Bonney’s two-run single.
“Their pitcher did a good job and had us frustrated,” said Norwich coach John Martinson. “Michael (Moon) did a great job on the mound keeping us in the game.”
Moon allowed just three hits and did not walk a batter. He issued 14 first-pitch strikes to 23 batters, and the Tornado defense did not commit an error. “It was probably our best defensive game of the season,” Martinson said.
Norwich (6-5, 7-5) has allowed just four runs over the last three games. It hosts Windsor Friday.

Sauquoit Valley 8, S-E 6 (8 innings)
SHERBURNE – A misplayed flyball in the top of the eighth scored two runs to give Sauquoit Valley a road victory against Sherburne-Earlville Wednesday.
The Marauders failed to score the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh putting runners on second and third with no outs. SV hurler Frank Palerecko induced two groundouts with the infield in and a pop out to end the Marauders’ threat. “That was what really killed us,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks of the seventh.
Mike McCredy had two hits and three RBI including a two-run homer for S-E in the first inning. Caleb Brown and Mike Doscher added a pair of hits.

Edmeston 10, G-MU 1
COPES CORNERS – After a tough loss to Milford early in the week, G-MU coach Jim Johnson called the defeat to Edmeston Wednesday at “no doubter.”
Anthony Wolcott started the scoring for Edmeston with a solo homer in the first, and Matt Laymon added two triples and three RBI, while Nick Davoulas doubled twice and drove in two runs. “They’re a good team, better than I thought,” Johnson said. “They have the dominant pitching, that is the big key.”
Jordan Williams allowed just one G-MU hit for the win.
The Raiders’ home game with Otselic Valley today was postponed due to a school concert.

AFTON – Corey Andresen was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, and he tossed a one-hitter on the hill to lead Deposit past Afton Wednesday.
Brett Hauber and Zach Matthews added two hits and one RBI for the Lumberjacks to back up Andresen.
Jake Snyder had a single in the first, Afton’s lone hit of the ballgame. “We played good defense in the outfield and infield, we just couldn’t generate any offense,” said Afton assistant head coach Justin Smith.

Unatego 5, Greene 0
OTEGO – Unatego won a slugfest in its first meeting with Greene, and captured a pitchers’ duel Wednesday at home.
Jordan Price gave up three hits earning the shutout win over the Trojans. Mike Simonds capped a three-run sixth inning to open a five-run lead connecting on a two-run triple.
“It was pretty close all the way through,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton. “Dylan Lance pitched the best game of his life. He started to tire in the sixth, and got a couple balls up in the strike zone. It was a good experience for him. He had good movement on his fastball, and kept them off balance.”
Greene hosts Walton Friday.

Harpursville 5, Oxford 1
HARPURSVILLE – Harpursville hit the ball in run-scoring situations, and the Blackhawks failed to deliver a timely hit in Wednesday’s win by the Hornets.
“It was a pretty well-played game overall,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer. “We’re not swinging poorly. We had some hard-hit balls at people, but we never strung anything together.”
Adam Neer led off the first for Harpursville with a double, and he scored the game’s first run. Pat Moore began the fourth with a triple, and he also scored.
Oxford hurt its own scoring chances on the basepaths when two runners attempted to make aggressive plays, but were thrown out.
Andrew Hubman and Eddie Grundner each had two hits for Oxford.
