Shapiro and Shore at 6 On The Square
OXFORD – On Saturday at 7:30 p.m., 6 On The Square proudly announces the return of Phil Shapiro and Carrie Shore ... the American Folk Tradition. These legends of folk music performed on the 6OTS stage last fall and pleased the audience with their joyful, sing-along music. They’re back just in time to make a perfect Mother’s Day gift with their ‘feel good’ familiar tunes.
Phil is a legend in folk music because of his long-time Ithaca radio program, “Bound For Glory.” Add Carrie’s fiddle and harmonizing vocals to Phil’s guitar and lead, and you have an unmatched duo performing American folk music - and proud of it! They share their love of folk music with the audience - their energy and enthusiasm is catching. Visit the website at www.6onthesquare.org for tickets and future event information. Purchase tickets on-line at the discounted price of $12 until the day of the show; $15 on the day of the show. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Also, don’t miss these future performances: Annie and the Hedonists on May 17 and Jamie Notarthomas’ Tribute to Dylan on May 31. Both shows are at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
On May 15, 7:30 p.m., it’s Open Mic Night at 6 On The Square. Have a talent? Singers, poetry readers, musicians, come to perform or come to listen; it’s always free admission! (It’s every third Thursday of each month.)
In addition to these performances, 6 On The Square is currently featuring an art exhibit of paintings by Oxford artist, Francis Wilcox.
6OTS is located at 6 LaFayette Park in downtown Oxford. Phone: 843-OTS6 (6876).
