Baseball

Norwich 6, Chenango Forks 1
NORWICH – Norwich won for the fourth time in five games getting six strong innings from Tim Clark, and a big day at the plate from Mackay Hotaling.
Clark logged six innings for the victory, and Hotaling laced a two-run double in the second inning. Clark added a sacrifice fly to put the Tornado up 3-0.
“I think the rest from the weekend was good for us,” said Norwich coach John Martinson. “We got a lot more production at the bottom of our order, and were more relaxed at the plate.”
Norwich senior catcher Patrick Coates had a standout day limiting the Forks running game. He threw two would-be Devils basestealers out, and also tagged out a Forks runner attempting to score. “Patrick has done a tremendous job behind the plate all season,” Martinson said. “He has really limited the baserunning of other teams this season.”
Hotaling and older brother Christian Hotaling each went 2-for-3 to lead Norwich.

Four of Canastota’s hits were of the extra-base variety helping them to a 4-1 lead after two innings. S-E hurler Lindsay Hodges settled down the rest of the way.
