Air Show next weekend

NORTH NORWICH – A large assortment of aircraft, in addition to airplane rides and air shows, highlight the 18th annual Chenango County Airport Day coming up next weekend at the Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport in North Norwich.
The free event begins at 7 a.m. June 14 with a pancake breakfast. Sign ups for orientation flights begin at 8 a.m., with airshow activities running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Plane rides, sponsored by the local chapter of Young Eagles, are free to children ages 8 to 17 years old. The Young Eagles program was launched in 1992 to give interested young people an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers.
Aircraft from the Warbird Museum in Elmira will be selling rides for adults.
Aircraft ranging from the Harvard T-6 Texan to the Stearman PT-19 Bi-Plane, State Police Helicopter Static Display and Military Fly-By will be on display. A show of radio-controlled aircraft, courtesy of the Oneonta Radio Controlled Plane club, begins at noon.
Chenango County Airport Administrator Donald W. Macintosh said he expects many of the club’s members and radio-controlled aircraft enthusiasts to make the trip to Norwich for the show.
“It should be a great show; lots of fun for the entire family,” he said.
The event is sponsored by the airport’s operators, Gama Aviation, along with Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals, New York Central Mutual, Chenango County, Hayes Office Products, L.W. Morse & Sons, Rea-D-Pack Foods, CV Electric, Webb and Son, Walt Rogers Insurance, Irmin Mody Realty, Ted Dolgos, Stanley Edwards, MeadWestvaco, Reese Marshall and Robert Benton from Tasis Security.
