Visit to Italy

Twenty students from Norwich took a trip to the Aeolian Island in Sicily this spring. The trip was organized by Tom LoPiccolo with the Explorica travel agency.
The focus of the voyage was on Lipari, the main of the seven islands which form the Aeolian archipelago, located 28 miles north of the coast of Sicily.
The students visited the main attractions in Lipari and the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew, which houses some relics of St. Bartholomew the Apostle.
In the early 1920s, many immigrants from the Lipari Islands settled in Norwich, and here, with a labor of love, they built the Church of St. Bartholomew’s as a testament to their faith.
Pictured in front of the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew’s in Lipari are: Jason King, Christina Decker, Alexis Perez, Maria Mirabito, Claire Sheldon, Dominique D’Angelo, Tyler Saroka, Alysha Jones, Emily Tackabury, Sharon Gigenti, Mike Billings, Chris Mattingly, Brooke Abbott, Cassidy Griffin, David Jones, Nate Foote, Kayle Renfrow, Elishia Kelly, Katie Hagen and Mark Ross.
