Mid-York Shining Brass plans Saturday concert

SHERBURNE – The Mid-York Shining Brass Band will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the United Church of Christ in Sherburne.
This unique organization of brass instrumentalists, based on the British Brass Band tradition, will perform a mixed program and will feature solos by Becky Sabin, trombonist, who will play “Georgia On My Mind,” Bob Merrick, french horn, will play “Tenderly” and Randy Larkin, trumpet, will play “Meditation from Thais.” Also the cornet duet “The Two Finches” will be performed by Gary Bush and Bob Washbon.
The Shining Brass celebrated its 12th season of bringing this exciting sound of brass to audiences in central New York. The musicians were brought together in 1996 by Red Raville, and this concert is made possible in part with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, administered by the Chenango County Council of the Arts.
Tickets will be available at the door. General admission is $7; students are admitted free.
