NORWICH – Sidney averted an Oxford-Norwich comeback victory getting the final out with the bases loaded to hold on for an 8-6 American Legion baseball win at Norwich Thursday night.
Sidney put two runs on the board in the first inning and four more in the second against losing pitcher Christian Hotaling to build a 6-1 advantage. Hotaling would settle down pitching three scoreless innings before giving up the pitching duties.
Oxford-Norwich had two hits apiece from Tim Clark, Roger Rose, and Patrick Coates. Clark helped his team get back into the game with a two-run double in the second inning.
O-N hosts three games next week beginning with Walton on Tuesday at 6 p.m., Edmeston on Wednesday, and Sherburne on Thursday.
