SHERBURNE – A serious accident left one person dead this weekend. State Police would not release the name of the individual this morning, nor the details of the accident, but the Chenango County Sheriff’s Department did confirm a fatality.

According to information from the Chenango County 911 Center, the accident occurred on the morning of Saturday, July 5 on state Highway 80, east of the Village of Sherburne. The accident was reported at 5:24 a.m. The Sherburne Fire Department and Mercy Flight Helicopter responded to the scene.
