Oxford pool awaits inspection, could open in next few days

OXFORD – The Oxford municipal swimming pool, closed the last three weeks to finish unexpected repairs, could open in the next several days for the first time this summer, officials said.

“Unless another major, unforeseen problem pops up, its opening is imminent,” said Lawrence Wilcox, supervisor for the Town of Oxford, which owns and operates the pool. “All we’re waiting for is the county Health Department to complete its final inspection.”

Wilcox speculated that the inspection may be conducted as early as today – meaning the pool could open this week – but he could not say with certainty.

The pool was closed in order to bring its 30-year-old feeder pumps, electrical work and concrete surface up to code.
