The Northeast Classic Car Museum hosts the H.H. Franklin Club

NORWICH – Members of the H.H. Franklin Club, driving more than 50 of the classic automobiles, stopped in Norwich Thursday to commerate the club’s 55th annual Franklin Trek. Destination? The Northeast Classic Car Museum.
The museum, popular with many classic car enthusiasts, has special meaning for Franklin aficionados. It is home to the Staley Collection, recognized as the world’s largest collection of Franklins.
Collectors of the classic automobile, manufactured in Syracuse from 1903 to 1934, gather in Cazenovia from all over the U.S. and the world to take part in the annual event. For them it is a chance to meet other Franklin owners, share restoration tips and visit locations of interest in the area.
According to museum director Doreen Bates, the Northeast Classic Car Museum is a regular stop on the trek. This year, the museum provided lunch and a tour for about 200 of the club’s members.
Bourke Runton, director of the Franklin Museum in Tucson, AZ, complemented the museum: “This is a nice collection of Franklin automobiles, New York State cars and U.S. cars in general. It is truly a cultural asset to the community.”
