SMTS stages "Seussical the Musical"

SHERBURNE – Sherburne Music Theater Society is celebrating its 40th anniversary. In celebration of their 40 years of fabulous fun, they are presenting “Seussical the Musical.” This marvelous show combines 13 of Dr. Seuss’ works in a fanstastical, magical, musical extravaganza.  Notable composers Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty have lovingly brought to life in Seussical all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, and the Whos of Whoville. 
This terrific cast includes many talented local people. Ariel Eliaz plays the Cat in the Hat. Horton the Elephant is played by Tom Lemery and Gertrude McFuzz is portrayed by Krysta Nower. Residents of the Jungle of Nool are Shari Taylor and Marie Moren as the Sour Kangaroo and her Young Kangaroo, Ben Gorton, Eric Robertson and Jacob Taylor as the Wickersham Brothers, Ellen Fagan as Mayzie LaBird, the Bird Girls, played by Lauren Mettler, Brittany Clark and Sarah Liuzzo. Other creatures of the jungle are played by Joelle Clark, Emily Powrie, Megan Rogers, Kamara Swayze, Elizabeth Taylor, Rachel Taylor, Brandon Walsh, Rachel Walters, and Meaghan Weinell.
In Whoville, Mr. and Mrs. Mayor, Michael Moren and Valerie Dugan, are the parents of Jojo, played by James Moren. Other Whos include Jenni Larchar, Lydia Larchar, Caleb Larchar, Joshua Larcher, Sara Joerger, Cristian Caldwell, Vito Bolognone, Dawn Wenzel, Brianna Gramble, Angel Sheeley, Danny Jerome, Ana Caldwell, Dylan Collins, Debi Pierce, Conor Walsh, Taylor Rollins, Liam Stahl, Austin Benenati, Elena Caldwell, Kathy Hilgenberg, Emily Joerger, Sabrina Pierce, Paige Rollins, TJ Larsen, Alex Tefft, Natalie Benenati, and Molly Stahl. The Grinch is depicted by Rick Thormahlen and the Butter Battle leader, General Genghis Kahn Schmitz, is portrayed by Richard Heim.
Directed by Donna Moren with music direction by Michael Moren, this musical is being brought to the Sherburne-Earlville High School auditorium on Aug. 15 and 16 at 7 p.m. and August 17 at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $5 for Age 5 and Under – presale or door; Students/Seniors - $8 presale, $10 at door; Adults - $10 presale, $12 at door.
