Halfway House bridge opens Monday
NORWICH – The Halfway House bridge, or Chenango County Rt. 32B, will open to traffic at 10 a.m. Monday. The bridge was closed to motorists in early October last year.
Department of Public Works Director Randy Gibbon said a brief ribbon cutting ceremony is planned.
“There’s still a little work to be done, but even though, it’ll be open to motorists at 10 a.m.,” he said.
The Halfway House bridge, which traditionally marked the point between the towns of Norwich and Oxford, was flagged for defaults after a routine inspection by state highway officials. The bridge was due to be replaced regardless, but officials had planned to keep the span open during the construction.
