YMCA uses video game to get kids active
NORWICH – The Norwich Family YMCA is taking an unusual approach to combating childhood obesity: They are using video games.
After receiving a grant from Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals for $2,000, the YMCA was able to purchase a Dance, Dance Revolution game system. The system includes two arcade style dance consoles and six practice pads, allowing a total of eight kids to enjoy the game at one time.
YMCA Youth and Family Director Bonnie Tiffany explained the YMCA programs are designed to promote a healthy and active lifestyle, and the Play Station game system is one more way to do that.
