EOH hosts Irish musicians this weekend

EARVILLE – The Earlville Opera House welcomes SLIDE (Ireland), hailing from Dublin, with their lively Irish tunes on Saturday at 8 p.m.  This performance is sponsored by WAER FM.
Recently featured on the cover of Irish Music magazine, this five-piece band keeps traditional fans happy while appealing to younger audiences with their contemporary, hard driving tunes.  “…They can sing, they can write, they can dance across fingerboards and piano keys, buttons and bows, and by crikey can they play.” Alex Monaghan, review 2003
The promise of this band was noticed when they won Best Newcomers Award in 2001 with their debut CD “The Flying Pig”. This set the wheel in motion and extensive European tours have left audiences rattled and mesmerized by the high powered deliverance of this young band’s innovative music. Their second CD “Harmonic Motion” in 2003 was a great success reaffirming Slide’s position in the traditional genre. Slide currently holds the Music Network award.  “Their most recent album “Slide Overneath” was supported by Music Network who selected the lads as talents to be watched and nurtured, there is a feeling here in Ireland that they could be the next big thing.” Seán Laffey review, 2007
The band includes Éamonn de Barra on flute, whistles, bodhrán, piano and harmonium, Aogán Lynch on concertina and whistle, Daire Bracken on fiddle, strings and guitar, Mick Broderick on bouzouki and mandolin and with singer and multi-instrumentalist, Dave Curley.  Take a listen on myspace/slideie.
SLIDE brings Irish music with attitude. Don’t miss an evening with these virtuoso musicians. Tickets are $18 for the general public, $16 for EOH members, and $13 for students.  Premium seating charges apply to the first four rows.  The EOH Theater is wheelchair-accessible with a ramp and a lift.  Don’t forget to visit our Artisan’s Gift Shop and EOH Arts Café!  The café is always open before the performance and during intermission, and serves tasty desserts, refreshing summer drink classics, and hot coffee/tea as well. For more information, or to reserve your seats, call 315-691-3550 or order online at www.earlvilleoperahouse.com.
Earlville Opera House events are made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a State Agency, and through the generosity of Earlville Opera House members.
