NORWICH – The Association of School Business Officials International has chosen to honor a local administrator for her commitment to her profession and her accomplishments as a school leader.

Margaret Boice, deputy superintendent of the Norwich City School District, has been selected to receive the Distinguished Professional Eagle Award at ASBO’s 2008 annual meeting in November. The award is given as “recognition of school business officials who are models in the school business management profession and demonstrate outstanding leadership.”

The Norwich administrator was notified that she was a finalist for the award in July. “I knew I’d been nominated, but I was very pleased, to say the least,” said Boice. An interview process determined that she would receive one of three distinguished professional awards to be given out this year.

Boice was nominated for the award by the executive director of the New York State Association of School Business Officials, Deedrick Bertholf.

“She really is a person who has demonstrated leadership,” said Bertholf, who has worked extensively with Boice both through the association and in his past role as the deputy superintendent of DCMO BOCES. “Margaret has done a wonderful job leading not only her district, but across the state.”
