Body pulled from river; no foul play involved

NORWICH – Police retrieved a dead body from the Chenango River Friday afternoon, about a hundred yards down stream from the bridge on county Rt. 320, behind the North Plaza shopping center in the Town of Norwich.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Department has identified the corpse as Albert E. Tuttle, 77, a resident of the Grace View Manor Apartments on Calvary Drive in Norwich.

Results of the autopsy performed Saturday at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton determined the cause of death to be “natural causes.” It is believed Mr. Tuttle had a heart attack prior to entering the water. He was last seen on Sunday, Sept. 14.
