Tornado homecoming tonight
NORWICH – The rainy forecast won’t put a damper on Purple Pride, but you may want to bring rain gear. Norwich’s Homecoming events will go on as planned tonight despite the weather, “unless we’re building an ark,” said Lansing Dimon, Norwich High School’s band director and homecoming coordinator.
“Come out and show your school spirit and support,” said Dimon, who invites students, alumni and the community to take part in this year’s Homecoming festivities. “This year’s homecoming theme is ‘Timelines,’ with every class showcasing a decade ranging from the 1950s through the 1980s.”
The action will get started long before the Purple Tornado hits the field at 7 p.m. against Holland Patent.
The evening’s events will kick off with the annual Homecoming Parade at 5:45 p.m., which will lead fans from the P&C Parking Lot on East Main Street to a Pep Rally at Ulrich Stadium.
The Homecoming game’s halftime show will feature the Norwich Purple Tornado Marching Band performing their competitive field show, said Dimon, as well as the crowning of the Homecoming Queen. The 2008 Homecoming Court includes seniors Jessica Burchill, Abby Dean, Cara Frink and Brooke Ireland.
For information on Homecoming activities, contact Dimon at 334-1600 extension 1163.
