Top 5 reasons to attend the 2008 Entrepreneur Forum

Chenango County’s Entrepreneurship Week wraps up tomorrow with the much anticipated 2008 Entrepreneur Forum. The event, made possible by the collaboration of Commerce Chenango and Brower Communications, is targeted to anyone interested in starting or growing a business. Need a reason to attend? The event’s coordinator, Martha Brower of Brower Communications, has enumerated five.
Reason Number 5:  Learn how to turn passion into a lasting business.
Those who attend the Entrepreneur Panel Breakfast Discussion will have the opportunity to listen to local entrepreneurs Jean Hayes, co-founder of Hayes Office Products; Trip deCordova, owner of Benedict Corporation and Leslie Dopkeen, co-owner of Central Diagnostic Imaging, share their secrets to success.
“[Attending the panel] is an investment in business knowledge,” said Brower. And, she added, “to watch Panel Moderator Bruce Erath is pure entertainment.”

Reason Number 4: Have a healthy, wealthy working lunch.
The forum’s Brown Bag Seminar Presentation, “How to become a wealthy entrepreneur” will feature award winning author Dr. Pat Laino.
“Dr. Laino will help everyone understand that ‘wealth’ is not a dirty word and that entrepreneurs can achieve financial success through strong strategies and commitment,” said Brower.
The $30 forum package registration fee includes a brown bag lunch provided by Garf’s as well as an autographed copy of Laino’s book, “Women and Wealth.”

Reason Number 3: Save time, money and even your marriage.
According to Brower, attendees will learn time-saving techniques in the Outlook workshop, save over $200 in private consultation fees by going to the Product Development class and skills learned in the Holistic Planning workshop might just help a marriage endure the process of starting a new business. There are marketing, tax and grant writing seminars as well. For a complete list visit www.chenangoforum.com.

Reason Number 2: Finance 101
A business degree costs a lot more than $7, as do the services of a good accountant. Yet for that base admission price, forum participants will learn how to create cash flow projections and use that information to do profit and loss analysis under the guidance of Steve Amel from the Small Business Development Center at Binghamton University. This can save your retirement plan, your home and your savings account when starting a business, said Brower.
And the number one reason to attend the 2008 Entrepreneur Forum is (drumroll, please) ...

Reason Number 1:  The Entrepreneur Forum only comes once a year.
Miss this and “you will have to wait another twelve months to get the opportunity to talk to other entrepreneurs, connect with resources, learn from business experts and link to economic development specialists,” said Brower.
The 2008 Entrepreneur Forum will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the SUNY Morrisville Norwich Campus.
The event, presented by Brower Communications and Commerce Chenango, is co-sponsored by NBT Bank, The Voss Group, The Evening Sun, Norwich-Sidney Pennysavers, Anderson Consulting, the DCMO BOCES Adult Education Program and the Small Business Development Center at Binghamton University.
