NEW BERLIN – After giving up its one-goal halftime lead early in the second half, UV responded with two quick goals to hold off the upstart Blackhawks
Kim Shackelton knotted the game for Oxford at one-apiece 6:28 into the second half only to see Amanda Tumilowicz answer for UV 1 1/2 minutes later with her second goal of the game. Sakura Gysin upped the lead to 3-1 tallying from the left wing just 34 seconds after Tumilowicz.
“Both teams had good opportunities; it was well-matched on both sides,” said UV coach Chris Bieniek, whose club improved to 7-5-2.
Ariel Salisbury of Oxford netted her first goal of the season, unassisted, with 13 1/2 minutes left in the game drawing Oxford (3-7) closer.

Greene 2, Sidney 0
SIDNEY – Greene handed state-ranked Sidney its first loss of the season, and pulled into a tie for first place in the Midstate Athletic Conference along side the Warriors.
“It wasn’t pretty, but we’ll take it,” said Greene coach Randy Smith.
Although outshot by a wide margin, Greene made the most of its chances. Liz Wentlent gathered a Megan McDermott cornerkick and steered it into the net for the first goal with 15:47 left in the first half.
McDermott added insurance in the second half on a quick restart. McDermott rocket a 30-yard shot just under the crossbar and just over the hands of Sidney keeper Stephanie Simonds. “That was a senior play,” Smith said of McDermott’s play, who also lauded his goalie, Emily Pierce. “(Pierce) was the key. With the wet conditions, the ball was skipping and bouncing all over, and she stopped a couple real good chances by Sidney. She played great, as did our backs Chelsea Pornbeck and Amanda Weeks.”
Greene (8-1-1, 8-3-1) plays at Oxford Thursday.
Summary
(0-0 at half)
Goals-assists: (G) Liz Wentlent, 1-0, Megan McDermott, 1-1.
