Cyclones win two of three

CAMDEN The Norwich Cyclones “C” team raced to a 28-0 lead, and went on to beat Camden, 28-13, last weekend.

Alex Weaver scored two touchdowns in the first half – a two-yard plunge in the first quarter, and a 39-yard return of a Blue Devils kickoff after a Cyclones safety.

Cole Rifanburg reached paydirt on a two-yard TD in the third, with Killian Benedict scoring on a three-yard TD jaunt in the fourth. Benedict added two conversion runs.

Rifanburg also tossed a beauty of a pass play covering 46 yards to Weaver to set up the third Norwich TD. Carter Hubbard also ran for good yardage on the day.

The defense was led by Tyler Roberts, who had a safety and a fumble recovery at the Camden 10-yard line. Trey Muserallo had a fumble recovery with Jordan Vinal, Jon Manwarren, Rifanburg, Calos Ithier and Dan Zieno stopping the Devils.

“B” team head coach Stan Foulds, making perhaps his last coaching appearance at Camden, guided his squad to a resounding 29-0 victory.

On the first Cyclones play from scrimmage, Frank Garcia raced 65 yards to paydirt. He added an 11-yard TD in the third quarter. Randy Stokes kicked two extra points with Landon Cummings adding a conversion run.
