Guilford Historical Society celebrates 10 Years
GUILFORD – What a great night! On Sept. 24, the Guilford Historical Society celebrated their 10th year anniversary at the Old Mill Restaurant. The dinner was great, which always is. Newly appointed Scott Parsons, president and Karen Todd, treasurer and returning officers Wilma Felton-Gray as VP and Sharon Donahe as secretary were sworn in by Mary Drachler, GHS member and president of the Bainbridge Historical Society. Awards were given out to the Grays, Todds, Carneys and Alton Doyle and Robert Fleming for outstanding performance, and a lifetime membership was presented to Gertie Pierce-Boyd. 67 people attended the celebration including members and guests. Each guest received daybooks and the officers were given yearly planners that were donated to the society by the Mead Corporation of Sidney.
The evening also consisted of a power point presentation by historian Tom Gray on the 10 years of the Guilford Historical Society and the accomplishments of the society. Everyone was amazed and remarked that they enjoyed the presentation and many gained an insight as to what had been done and accomplished in basically a short time. The presentation created a great awareness of the reason for the night’s event.
