Ex-principal gets $53,000 in settlement agreement

NORWICH – According to the terms of a settlement agreement signed by Thomas Knapp, the former Norwich High School principal will receive $53,744.25 from the district.

The Evening Sun received details of this settlement as the result of a request filed under the Freedom of Information Law.

The agreement, signed by Knapp and Norwich City School Board President Bob Patterson on Oct. 7, stipulates that the payment less applicable employment tax withholdings must be made by Oct. 14.

In exchange, Knapp has tendered his resignation and agreed to withdraw the Notice of Claim he filed against the district, school board and Superintendent Gerard O’Sullivan in August.
