Three injured in ATV vs. tree accident in Plymouth

PLYMOUTH – One person was airlifted and two others injured Saturday when the four-wheeler they were riding collided head-on into a tree in the Town of Plymouth.
The operator of the ATV, Marius O. Fratilo, 37, Richmond Hill, Plymouth, was airlifted to Upstate Medical in Syracuse. The two younger passengers, ages 9 and 14, received minor injuries and were taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital.
The accident took place at approximately 6 p.m. Saturday.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Deputy Gary Miller responded to the scene and said Fratilo was “semi-conscious” when crews arrived.
“He was complaining of chest pains and medical crews decided they needed to call a helicopter,” said Miller. Fratilo also suffered head injuries, the deputy said.
Although the cause of the accident is still under investigation, deputies said the ATV appeared to be traveling along Reservoir Hill Road in the Town of Plymouth when it suddenly veered to the right striking a tree, ejecting the riders forward.
The Norwich and Plymouth Fire Departments also responded to the scene with their EMS crews.
No tickets have yet been issued and police are continuing the investigation.
