Norwich Cyclone Cheerleaders move on to state finals

NORWICH – The Norwich Cyclones cheerleaders’ A Team will move on to the state finals after taking second place at the Tri Valley Cheerleading Competition in Utica.
The Cyclones’ roughly 75 participants are divided by age into four teams. Each of these teams competed in the Sat., Oct. 4 event.
While the 16-member A Team will be the only squad from the Cyclones to move on to the state competition, the B, C and D teams did not go home empty handed. As a whole, the Cyclone cheerleaders were awarded the Sportsmanship Trophy for their division.
According to the A Team’s head coach, Jennifer Prindle, this honor came as something of a surprise as it is normally given to larger schools.
“It has been a long time since the A Team has moved on,” said Jennifer Prindle, head coach of the A Team. “And I believe this is the first time Norwich has won the Sportsmanship Award at this competition.”
The A Team cheerleaders will advance to the state finals competition on Oct. 18 in Albany. “The girls are ecstatic,” said Prindle.
