OXFORD – The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office reports that between 20 and 30 headstones were destroyed at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the Village of Oxford.
Police said the crimes occurred at some time between the hours of 5 p.m. Wednesday and 5 p.m. Thursday.
Police said that “unknown subjects damaged or destroyed approximately 20 to 30 headstones by either breaking them or pushing them over.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 334-2000; all calls will be kept confidential.
