Sherburne’s last lecture series begins tonight
SHERBURNE – The Sherburne-Earlville school district will hold the first part of their Last Lecture series, at 7 tonight in the high school auditorium.
Kicking off the lecture series will be Sherburne social studies teacher Michael Rodriguez. Rodriguez, a teacher, father, soccer coach, Gulf War Veteran, community volunteer and member of the Faith Baptist Tabernacle Church, will give a lecture on a topic of his choice as part of the series. Rodriguez’ lecture is titled “American History’s Finest Lesson.”
The last lecture series has long been sweeping college campuses. The lecture series asks teachers and community members what wisdom would you want to pass on, if this was your last chance.
The senior class came up with the idea to bring the Last Lecture series to Sherburne-Earlville. Each year, the senior class leaves a gift for future students, and the class of 2009 decided the lecture series would be a gift of value to the school and the community.
The lecture series will contain three parts. English Teacher Rennie Korver and Kindergarten teacher Nancy Heck will give lectures on Friday, Feb. 6 and Friday, May 8 respectively.
