Delays in murder cases granted at request of defense

NORWICH – Two homicide cases in Chenango County Court have been postponed at the request of the defense.

The court reported that the sentencing of Peter M. Wlasiuk will be at 1 p.m., Oct. 28 at the Chenango County Courthouse. District Attorney Joseph McBride said the courts moved the dates after granting a request made on behalf of the defense. The defense attorney for both defendants is Randel Scharf of Cooperstown.

A jury found Wlasiuk guilty of second degree murder at his retrial in September in the death of his wife, Patricia, in 2002.

Wlasiuk faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
