Cyclones trounce Utica

UTICA – The Norwich Cyclones’ “C” team upended the Utica Bulldogs 20-0 Sunday, while the A team rolled to a 33-6 victory. 

Cole Rifanburg reached paydirt on a one-yard keeper for the C team in the first quarter, with Killian Benedict adding the point-after conversion run. The Cyclones took that 7-0 lead into halftime.

Alec Weaver scored on a seven-yard run in the third, with Benedict adding another point-after on a pass to Jordan Vinal.

Rifanburg raced for a 42-yard TD in the fourth, to end Cyclones scoring.

Tyler Roberts, Vinal, Carter Hubbard, Weaver, and Jake Walsh led the defense, with Hubbard, Vinal, and Trey Muserallo having key Bulldog fumble recoveries.  Benedict also had two interceptions.

The Cyclones’ “B” team fell 26-12 to the swifty undefeated Bulldogs.

Frank Garcia rushed for 152 yards with Tristan Rifanburg scoring on a one-yard keeper, and Randy Stokes streaking to a 40-yard TD jaunt.

Garcia, Rifanburg, Stokes, Spencer Stone, Jacob Perone and Landon Cummings played good “D” for the Cyclones.
