Greene finishes perfect regular season
Football
Greene 28, Whitney Point 14
WHITNEY POINT – Less than one minute into the second quarter, Greene had a four-touchdown lead on Whitney Point, and it cruised to an eighth straight victory Saturday in the rain and muck.
It is the first 8-0 start for the Trojans since the 1966 season, said head coach Tim Paske. Greene takes that perfect record into the Class C playoffs next Saturday at Binghamton Alumni Stadium when it faces Trumansburg at 7 p.m.
“We wanted to finish the regular season strong before the playoffs, and we jumped out on them early,” Paske said. “It was just tough to run the ball after the first quarter (with the field conditions). We didn’t throw the ball and became more conservative.”
Before ratcheting the offense down a bit, the Trojans threw three TD passes and returned a fumble for a score. Brendan Kinne caught a 40-yard TD pass from Nate Whittaker and a 10-yard TD toss from Scott Gorton. Gorton also hooked up with Josh Clink on a 25-yard six-point TD connection.
To end the first quarter, Carlin scooped up a fumble and raced to paydirt.
Whitney Point finished with 126 yards of total offense, and 66 of those came on fourth-quarter TD jaunt by David Kellicut.

Hancock 28, Oxford 8
HANCOCK – Hancock quarterback Dylan Oralls ran for two touchdowns and threw for another to give the Wildcats their second win of the season on Friday.
Oralls scrambled for TD dashes in the first and second quarter covering 10 yards for the first and 17 on the second to lift his club to a 16-0 halftime lead. “We couldn’t contain their quarterback, and we knew he would be the main portion of their running game,” said Oxford coach Mike Chrystie. “They didn’t throw the ball all over us, for the most part. We held the passing game, but Oralls was able to break contain, and we weren’t disciplined enough.”
Oxford closed the gap to 20-8 when John Wonka hit Travis Frank on a 21-yard TD pass early in the fourth. Wonka added the two-point conversion toss to Jamie Smolcnop.
Hancock quickly responded on a 66-yard TD run by Darin Keesler. “Hancock’s offense has a lot of new things that most high school teams don’t see, and from that standpoint they are tough to prepare for,” Chrystie said. “Still, it comes down to execution, and I take responsibility for our team not executing.”
Frank led Oxford with 117 yards rushing on 25 carries. Wonka threw for 133 yards.
