Bricks & Mortar Report
EDITOR’S NOTE: The Bricks & Mortar Report provides updates on major construction projects in Chenango County.
Guilford Town Hall:
• A retention pond and the foundations for the estimated $1.65 million Guilford Town Hall and Highway Garage project on Marble Road were recently completed.
• The prefabricated metal building for the 10,400 square foot garage arrived last week. The new Town Hall will be roughly 3,000 square feet.
Lok-N-Logs, Inc. Model Center:
• Work is nearing completion on Lok-N-Logs’ new, two-story model log home and corporate sales office, located on state Rt. 12 in the Town of Sherburne. Plans are to occupy the office by year’s end and host an open house for the new model in late spring or early summer.
• The project, built by Mikalunas Builders, LLC of Sherburne, includes a 650 square foot breezeway between the two buildings that will showcase construction material samples and photos of Lok-N-Logs homes.
• The existing sales models, on display just north of the new 57-acre location, are 20 to 30 years old. They’ve been parceled off and are for sale, according to Lisa Nelson of Lok-N-Logs. “The new location will show our current state-of-the-art building systems and product lines,” she said.
• The 2,872 square foot log home represents their newest model, The Hunts Mountain Lodge. It features a kitchen and dining area, a great room with stone fireplace, a master bedroom, two large bedrooms, a loft/study area and 2 1/2 baths. The sales office is 1,740 square feet.
• The company expects to start furnishing the lodge within a few weeks. Contractors are completing exterior stain work, exterior lighting and interior trim.
• Special additions to the property will include a koi pond and a footbridge by the Rainbow Bridge Company of Sherburne.
Pet Street Development:
• A roadway and egress onto county Rt. 32 in the Town of Norwich were recently completed for this new, 22-acre commercial subdivision development adjacent to the Pet Street Station Animal Hospital.
• Pet Street Development is offering six lots ranging in size from 1/2 acre to 4 acres. The property is within the Empire Development Zone, real esate agent Kevin Walsh of Peggy Parker Real Estate said.
