City temporarily waives heating system permit fees

NORWICH – The winter heating season is upon us, and the City of Norwich is hoping to encourage residents who will be installing new heating systems this year to get a permit.

During its October meeting, the Common Council decided to temporarily waive the permit fee for the installation of a new heating system. The permits will still be required, but for a limited period of time the fee to acquire the permit will be waived.

“We’re doing this to promote the safety of the residents of the city,” Mayor Joseph Maiurano said, explaining that residents would still be required to comply with all installation requirements and have the installed system inspected by the city.
