Cyclones ‘B Team’ sends Foulds out a winner
NORWICH – On the day that 30-year Norwich Cyclones coach Stan Foulds retired, his “B Team” said goodbye with an impressive 36-6 win over the visiting New Hartford Bears Sunday at Alumni Field.
The Cyclones opened the game with Frank Garcia racing for a Norwich pee wee-record kickoff return of 85 yards to paydirt. Randy Stokes added the two-point conversion kick making the score 8-0 in the first 30 seconds of the game.
The Bears’ first possession ended with an Ethan Kelly interception at the Bears’ 35 yard line. On the Cyclones’ fourth possession on third-and-eight, Garcia found the endzone again with an 11-yard sweep off the left end. Stokes once again added the two-point conversion kick giving the Cyclones a 16-0 first-quarter lead.
After a Spencer Stone sack ended the Bears’ drive, Garcia once again found paydirt behind the blocking of John Marvin and Tristan Rifanburg from 18 yards out. Stokes was able to connect on his third two-point conversion kick upping the lead to 24-0 at halftime.
