DERUYTER – Otselic Valley bombed away from the outside nailing seven three-pointers – five from Heather Eaton – to open its season with a victory at DeRuyter Tuesday.
Eaton finished with a career-high 26 points on 10-for-20 shooting, while also grabbing nine rebounds. Melinda Schutt also canned a pair of three balls. “They played zone, and if we get the opportunity (to shoot three-pointers), we can make them,” said OV coach Ron Graham. “Defensively, we did a good job, and the young kids are learning.”
OV plays Morrisville-Eaton on Monday.

SOUTH OTSELIC – Otselic Valley’s defensive pressure led to a big first-half lead, and it opened its season with a runaway victory over the Panthers Tuesday.
David Cerasani scored 13 of his 20 points in the first half and added six assists. The Vikings moved out to a 37-13 lead at the break, and extended the margin to 36 points after three periods. Justin Shapley grabbed eight rebounds, and Brad Wentworth dumped in 11 points.
“We had real good defensive intensity, and they had trouble handling it,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “We were able to create turnovers, get out and run, and score in transition.”
Otselic Valley plays a non-league game at Lafayette on Friday.
